The Carel Corporation assessed the nature and extent of impacts to
groundwater at a facility in Oklahoma, and developed an economical
remediation system to achieve cleanup levels. The remedial method
involved soil vapor extraction (SVE), which used existing site
equipment already in operation to remove organic constituents from
the soil and groundwater. The remediation system cost was therefore
lower to construct and operate than other potential remedial
techniques. More importantly, the system effectively reduced the
concentrations of all constituents of concern to be below detection
limits in only a few years.
